| June & July Progress
Update |
Things have now moved on a pace, further work has
been completed on the scenics around the water feature which has
now had the mechanics fitted and worked well when tested with real
water.
Most of both the branch and the main line track has been laid and
painted with just the bay platform sections and the remainder of
the rear fiddle yard to complete. A start has been made on fitting
point motors and the control box (transformers etc) has been built
and kitted out.
Our next step is to complete the last of the track sections in
the fiddle yard, add the bay point work and give it all a good testing
prior to ballasting and completing the point motor installation.

| June 2010 |
| The front right hand corner showing the hillside around
the water feature, the hi-level branch and the freight and passenger
lines as they enter through the hillside. |
 |
 |
A closer view which shows the freight lines as enter
the tunnel towards the centre of the layout. |
| The hi-level branch at the far left corner and a closer
view of the freight lines as they enter the tunnel. Note the points
“placed” to test the bay platform arrangement. |
 |
 |
A close up of the freight line approach to the tunnel,
note the Farish controller which was used to test the flexi track
hand graded curves and the alignments. |
| Here we are looking at the front right corner from the
opposite angle. This shows the track taking the bridge over the water
feature and on the far side the beginnings of the DMU sidings |
 |
 |
The track for the DMU sidings has now been laid. |
| A close up of the bridge crossing the water feature. |
 |
 |
The far left corner with the branch line crossing over
the entrance to the low level fiddle yard. |
| A view of the front left corner with the approaches
to the station and bay platforms. |
 |
 |
The branch station arrangement at the rear of the layout.
The area behind this (full of clutter) will become the low level fiddle
yard – honest! |
| July 2010 |
| Top left hand corner overview which shows the progress
made in the station area, the track has now been connected together. |
 |
 |
A wider view from the same angle, the concrete track
has been weathered and the beginnings of the low level fiddle yard
can now be seen in the top right hand corner |
| A scene taken from the rear fiddle yard (still in progress).
The gap in the track at the front is for the branch line bay platforms. |
 |
 |
Bottom left corner which now has the front freight yard
in place, looking rust as it still requires weathering. Three members
of the building team are discussing the night’s work in the top of
the shot. |
| A closer view of the station area. |
 |

|
And from the opposite angle depicting the bays. |
| The point work at the station and yard approaches. |
 |
 |
Progress on the water feature and the island. |
| The branch line tunnel and the DMU sidings taken from
the rear of the layout. |
 |
 |
The DMU sidings. Because this is a lift off section,
and it would be difficult to fit point motors, we have used the wire
in tube method of point operation – hence the coloured beads which
are fixed on the ends of the point rods. |
| Another shot of the bridge over the water feature, to
the left you can see the baseboard joint. We will need to cut through
all the track where it crosses a baseboard joint before we can dismantle
the layout. |
 |
 |
The freight line tunnel approach with a much tidier
board behind. |
| Top right corner (front) with the basic shape of the
surrounding hillside forming around the water feature. |
 |
 |
A wider angle of the above. |
| This completes the circular tour of the layout as it
stands in early July 2010. Refer back to shot 1 for orientation. |

stock in place to depict scale. |
