OCTOBER UPDATE
My, how time flies, October already, but several things have happened since the last update, with quite a lot of things being agreed and adjusted to get things into a more final stage for final layout firming up.

WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING
There has been a lot of activity all over the layout, as well as ‘behind the scenes’ where several members have been doing their ‘Homework’ to provide idea’s for the scenic’s and scenic animation for the future.
The new ‘Board 10’ has been fitted, and is about to be painted before final fitting and track laying etc. this also indicates the structure of the boards, which give a very ‘open’ format for both scenic’s and cabling etc.

THE MAIN LINE
We have decided to re-track certain area’s of the layout to bring the track ‘into gauge’ and allow for certain longer loco’s (such as Virgin Pendolino’s and Super Voyager’s) to go round with obstruction to the other direction track, although we have decided to only allow loco’s like this to be operational in one direction at a time.
The board track joints are being tried out that allows for easy adjustment when being set up for exhibitions etc. to hopefully reduce the time and make it more simple to adjust the track alignment etc.
THE BRANCH LINE
The track plan is coming together quite well, the ‘urban’ station area tracking is now finalised, although the continuation through the board to the rear of the layout has not been done yet.
The ‘hidden’ loco parking tracks are now in place, these will be hidden under scenic’s and locos / rakes may be ‘parked’ in these for added interest to the viewers.

THE GOODS YARD
The layout plans for this area are on ‘on-going’ subject with everybody throwing in idea’s to come up with a good, interesting and functional layout, but still has to be finalised.

THE FIDDLE YARDS
We have started to strip down certain of the control features off this for the time being, to allow for the new control distribution system to be implemented, which is planned to be started in December, and will be an on-going operation.

THE NEW VIADUCT
The initial planning for the new viaduct is being done, and a ‘mock up’ has been to produced to check and test its viability and practicality of position etc.
This is probably going to develop into a ‘project’ in its own right,

Well, that’s about it for this month, I have deliberately kept the text to a minimum by only mentioning the main points of interest and change to hopefully prevent repeating myself.
